Within the plasma spray physical vapor deposition or PS-PVD ceramic powder is introduced into the plasma flame, which vaporizes it and to the ceramic coating make it then condensed.
The PS-PVD-rig Glenn Research Center NASA uses new technology to create super thin ceramic coatings, which are designed to protect of the high-efficiency motors. The coatings in the PS-PVD rig created are thinner and more complex than the previously available.
The PS-PVD rig is a system of vacuum pumps and a fan of air from the Chamber, to reduce the pressure inside to fraction removed normal atmospheric pressure. The plasma flame is extremely hot and reached 10,000 degrees Celsius. Ceramic powder is the torch in the plasma flame. The plasma vaporizes the ceramic powder, then 5 metres form of the torch on the component to the ceramic coating condensed.
Plasma-no gas, liquid or solid-is the fourth State of matter and often behaves like a gas, except that it is current and is influenced by magnetic fields. Plasma is used in astronomical size. The Sun consists of plasma, fire is plasma, fluorescent and neon lights contain plasma. NASA's PS-PVD rig is an of only two such facilities in the country and four in the world.
